USA Basketball announced its 2023 Women's U16 team roster over the weekend following 10 days of trials in Colorado Springs, Colo. The roster includes eight MaxPreps All-Americans.
The team will compete from June 13-19 at the FIBA U16 Women's Americas Championship in Merida, Mexico.
Headlining the team are the MaxPreps Co-Freshmen of the Year
Jerzy Robinson and
McKenna Woliczko. Other Class of 2026 MaxPreps All-Americans on the squad include
Jayla Jackson and
Addison Bjorn.
Dee Alexander leads the Sophomore MaxPreps All-Americans slated to compete for USA Basketball. She was also the MaxPreps Ohio Player of the Year and led Purcell Marian to a 27-2 mark and Ohio Division II title. Other sophomore All-Americans include
Aaliyah Crump and
Lanie Grant.
Jacy Abii,
Kelsi Andrews,
Trinity Jones and
Lola Lampley round out the roster.
The team will be led by
Incarnate Word Academy (St. Louis) coach Dan Rolfes. His assistants include Bobbi Morgan of Ursinus College and Trenia Tillis-Hoard of Tyler Junior College.
The field includes eight teams vying for four spots in the 2024 FIBA U17 Women's World Cup in Mexico. Team USA is in Group A along with Colombia, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Play opens June 13 against Puerto Rico, followed by Colombia on June 14 and Mexico a day later. The quarterfinals are June 17 with the finals on June 18-19. Competition will stream love on www.youtube.com/FIBA.
The trials featured 55 players from the classes of 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 and included 24 MaxPreps All-Americans.
