The defending Virginia Independent School Athletic Association Division I champions finished ninth in the final
MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Girls Basketball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. Paul VI returns a trio of guards:
Raven James,
Jasmine Whitney and
Rayna Barbour. Whitney was a second-team All-Washington Post selection last year. The Panthers have won nine straight VISAA titles.

The Cavaliers lost just three seniors off last year's 14-person team, which beat Bird 71-65 in the state 5A finals behind 31 points from then-junior guard
Gadiva Hubbard and 14 from then-junior guard
Danyael Goodhope. With both of them returning, Princess Anne should contend for another title. The Cavs have won at least 27 games for eight straight years.

The Chiefs' top four scorers from last season were all sophomores, including 6-foot-1 guard
Megan Walker (19.1 points, 7.1 rebounds per game) and 5-8 guard
Jaiden Morris (14.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg). Monacan is the defending state 4A champion.

The Springers lost just two seniors off last year's squad, which won 25 straight games and scored more than 100 points seven times, but lost in the 5A South Regional tournament to Bird, 61-46.
Cece Crudup, a 5-8 junior, leads the way.
