Our championship period of the trip started in St. Louis, MO, where we took in three great games at the Edwards Jones Dome. The 2A champions ended up being the Blair Oaks Falcons after beating the Hogan Prep Rams, while the 4A champions were the Webb City Cardinals because of the scoreless defensive effort they put on the Hannibal Pirates. The 6A game was our "Game of the Week" and ended up being one of the most lopsided games we have seen on this tour.
The Blue Springs South team showed everyone why they are MaxPreps #1 team in Missouri with a convincing 41-7 victory over Christian Brothers College. Sophomore QB Blaine Dalton threw for four touchdowns, including two passes to the hands of Dante Strickland. Blaine led his Blue Springs South team to scores in their first five possessions. Jeremy Mack ended the game with one touchdown, one interception, and set the record for the most interceptions in school history.
The only bright spot for Christian Brothers came in the third quarter when they scored their only touchdown on an 11-yard Rayon Simmons run, his 29th touchdown of the year. With no passing game the Cadets could not move the ball, and with the Jaguars playing a tight 5-3 defense, the running game was not an option.
With this day over, we move on to Indianapolis, IN, to watch Warren Central play Carmel tomorrow for the state championship. Some say Warren Central is the best team in the nation, so being only a short four hour drive from the game Mike and I packed up and now are lying down in a Cambridge Transmissions parking lot about two blocks from the RCA Dome.
