Video: Hail Mary for the win
See the jaw-dropping play that ended Oak Mountain's victory.Another night, another spectacular Hail Mary victory in high school football.
The night after the second coming of the "Miracle in Miami,"
Jackson Kimbrell threw a 21-yard pass that was deflected into the hands of
Ethan Duncan on the final play of the game, giving
Oak Mountain (Birmingham, Ala.) a wild 30-28 win at jam-packed Thompson (Alabaster, Ala.).
Kimbrell, a 6-foot, 180-pound sophomore left-hander, rolled left and lofted the ball into the end zone, where several players converged. The ball tipped up and Duncan, a junior running back, snapped it up in the back of the end zone, setting off a wild celebration for the visitors. The Thompson defenders crumbled immediately to the ground in disappointment.
The victory was the second-straight for Oak Mountain (2-3) after opening the season 0-3. Thompson dropped to 2-2. Oak Mountain won a 41-37 thriller over Thompson last year.
