The Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 63-13 win over Miami. The result was nothing new for Arizona Lutheran Academy, who have now won seven games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Elijah Harris was a one-man wrecking crew for Arizona Lutheran Academy as he rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also caught a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerren Vaughn, who rushed for 77 yards and three touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Miami still got an impressive performance from Abram Castaneda, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Castaneda was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Arizona Lutheran Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Tempe and 2-7 Trivium Prep (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.6% over those games). As for Miami, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arizona Lutheran Academy will challenge St. John Paul II Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John Paul II Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Arizona Lutheran Academy is ranked 76th). As for Miami, they will head out on the road to face off against American Leadership Academy - Anthem South at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. American Leadership Academy - Anthem South comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
