A busy transfer season helped elevate the Trailblazers as the top team on the West Coast and heavy favorite to win a third consecutive CIF Open Division state championship.
They feature a pair of 5-star senior transfers in Boston Jr. and Williams (out until Dec. 29 due to transfer ruling), and a pair of elite sophomores in 5-star point guard Bailey and talented transfer Odom.
The only returning starter from last season is versatile forward Frank, while 7-foot-3 center Yu, along with Wade and James Jr. — sons of future NBA Hall of Famers Dwyane Wade and LeBron James — are expected to round out the core rotation.
New CIF regulations prohibit the Trailblazers from playing teams that don't play for state championships. Despite that, they still must manage a robust schedule with match-ups against No. 7 Patrick School, No. 8 Paul VI, No. 14 Long Island Lutheran, No. 15 Minnehaha Academy and No. 19 Rancho Christian. All those games are set for after the New Year.
With the strong influx of experience, youth, transfer and star power, expect the small private school from Southern California to make a strong national title push.
