LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Gina Metzler of
Papillion-LaVista (Papillion, Neb.) High School in Papillion, Neb., has been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week for games contested over October 14-20.
Metzler batted a torrid .727 at the plate, going 16-for-22, with a double, a triple, eight runs scored, five stolen bases and six RBIs for the 33-4 Monarchs. The senior center fielder even managed to draw a pair of walks to reach base successfully 18 times in 24 total plate appearances. She hit safely in all six of Papillion-LaVista's games for the week, posting a perfect 4-4 effort with a triple and two RBIs against Millard South (Neb.) and three hits each in a trio of contests.
For the season, Metzler is batting .605 overall with 52 tallies, five doubles, eight triples, a HR, 38 stolen bases and 30 RBIs.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week's award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
