Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding
performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close
out the 2025-26 season by naming the top player in each state.
Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in
addition to local and state accolades.
Joshua Obiora of
St. Georges Tech (Middletown) is the 2025-26 MaxPreps Delaware High School Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-8 senior forward led the Hawks to a 19-6 record and an appearance in the state championship game.
For the season, Obiora averaged 19.9 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest while shooting 58.5 percent from the field.
In a 60-46 loss to Howard in the title game, Obiora pumped in a game-high 16 points. He also had 22 points and 11 rebounds in a 63-58 win over Dover in the semifinals.
