Ron Holland, the top-ranked high school basketball prospect in the Class of 2023 according to 247Sports, announced he will play for the G League Ignite next season after decommitting from Texas in late April.
The 6-foot-8 forward finished runner-up to
Cameron Boozer for MaxPreps National Player of the Year honors last season after averaging 20.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals per contest as a senior.
Holland led
Duncanville (Texas) to the No. 2 spot in the national rankings after the Panthers finished with a 29-1 record in 2022-23.

During Holland's four seasons at Duncanville he compiled over 1,500 points and 900 rebounds. The Panthers finished ranked nationally all four years and were named national champions during his junior season.
The highly-regarded prospect also won a pair of gold medals with USA Basketball, averaging 19.0 points and 10.2 rebounds at FIBA U16 Americas in 2021 and tallying 11.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game last summer at the FIBA U17 world championship.
Holland is an elite two-way prospect who has shown the ability to rise to highest level on the biggest stages throughout his high school career and is considered one of the top prospects in the 2024 NBA Draft.
The Texas native is the third elite prospect to choose the G League Ignite directly out of high school, joining
Matas Buzelis and
Dink Pate in the professional ranks.
