Despite a breakout performance in Las Vegas, Calvin Hermanson of Lake Oswego (Ore.) elected not to entertain new suitors.
The 6-foot-6 wing, who led Oregon-based Clutch Players Silver to a deep run in the adidas Super 64 last weekend, committed to St. Mary's on Wednesday evening according to his mother, Cherri Roden.

Prior to Hermanson's efforts in Las Vegas, California-Santa Barbara, Drake, Oregon State, Stanford and Washington State had extended offers in addition to St. Mary's. Marquette jumped in the picture in recent days and renewed interest came from Harvard, Pennsylvania and Yale of the Ivy League.
But according to Roden, her son had a special feeling for the St. Mary's program following a pair of visits to the school. Having fellow Oregonian and friend Stephen Holt of Jesuit (Portland) on the roster was an added comfort.
Hermanson was Oregon's 6A player of the year as a junior, averaging 22.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He hails from the same high school that produced Kevin Love.
Hermanson joins a St. Mary's recruiting class that also includes highly-touted guard Cullen Neal of Eldorado (Albuquerque, N.M.). Neal is the son of New Mexico assistant coach Craig Neal.
Expect Hermanson to earn a spot in Monday's updated version of the Class of 2013 Top 100.
