It's known as "The Streak" at De La Salle (Concord, Calif.). The 151-game consecutive wins streak has been chronicled on the big screen and in a pair of books. While the streak is incredibly impressive, considering it lasted over 11 seasons, it's not even close to the longest winning streak in high school sports. In MaxPreps' list of the longest winning streaks of all-time, there are more than 50 win streaks of over 150 consecutive victories.
Leading the way is Brecksville-Broadview Heights (Ohio), which won an incredible 777 gymnastics meets in a row between 2003 and 2014. Next is Miller Place (N.Y.), a badminton team that rarely gave up a point in going 32 years with out a loss while racking up 504 wins.
A streak that may eventually top them all, however, is Brophy College Prep boys swim team, which hasn't lost a dual meet in the pool since 1970 and has 480 victories in a row (there are three forfeit wins during the streak, however). In terms of years, no program's streak has gone on longer than the Broncos' 50-year run.
MaxPreps' list of longest win streaks, includes a Top 25 along with all teams that have 100 or more consecutive wins. The list does not include ties or "unbeaten" streaks. Only wins makes the list.
The problem is that there are a number of programs that are not aware of how many consecutive game or dual meet wins they have. Carmel (Ind.), for instance has not lost a dual meet in girls swimming since 1983. According to Athletic Director Jim Inskeep, however, the school has not kept track of the number of dual meet wins.
Likewise, Bolles (Jacksonville, Fla.) has won over 30 straight state championships, but head coach Pete Verhoef says the school has not kept track of dual meet wins.
Sehome (Bellingham) went 384-1 under coach Nola Ayres in girls gymnastics during the 1970s and 80s, but Ayres took some time off during that run to go back to school and there's no indication of the length of any of Sehome's win streaks.
The list is also for overall win streaks, not league win streaks. Among those with long league win streaks include Punahou boys tennis at 260 in a row and the Haddonfield girls tennis team (350 in a row according to coach Jeff Holman) and the boys tennis team (500 in a row).
The king of win streaks, or perhaps that should be queen, is Xavier College Prep (Phoenix). The all-girls school has five teams with streaks of 100 or more wins.
Resources for the streaks list include the National Federation of High Schools record book, the Cal-Hi Sports Record Book and Almanac by Mark Tennis and Nelson Tennis, state association websites and searches via newspapers.com.

De La Salle's 151-game football win streak is impressive, but doesn't crack the list of Top 25 all-time high school sports runs.

Longest all-time high school sports win streaks
1. 777, Brecksville-Broadview Heights (Broadview Heights, Ohio), gymnasticsYears: 2003-14
Lost to: Magnificat (Rocky River, Ohio)
Note:
The streak needs some context since Brecksville couldn't have possibly
held an average of 70 dual meets a year over 12 seasons. However, coach
Joan Ganim told Cleveland.com in 2014 that the streak included any dual
meets, tri-meets and tournaments in which Brecksville defeated other
teams. According to Ganim, if Brecksville defeated 20 teams in a
tournament, that was equal to 20 dual meet wins. The Ohio High School
Athletic Association does not designate how a school can calculate dual
meet wins.
2. 504, Miller Place (N.Y.), badmintonYears: 1973-2005
Lost to: Smithtown
Note:
Also the home of "Karate Kid" Ralph Macchio, Miller Place went 32 years
before losing a match. Featured in Sports Illustrated, ESPN and the New
York Times, Miller Place often did not give up a point in a match, let
alone come close to losing. Coach Pat McCarrick started the program in
1973 and never lost a match in her 27 years of coaching, building a
record of 389-0.
3. 480, Brophy College Prep (Phoenix), boys swimmingYears: 1970-current
Lost to: Ongoing
Note:
Brophy College Prep enters the 2020-21 school year with a streak that
hasn't been broken in 50 years. According to one report, the team had to
forfeit three matches due to an ineligible swimmer during Pat O'Neill's
tenure over the past two decades as reported by the Brophy College Prep
student newspaper. However, when O'Neill left the program a few years
ago, he reportedly had never lost a dual meet or state championship
while at the school. The Broncos have not lost a match in the pool since
1970.
4. 459, Brandon (Fla.), wrestlingYears: 1973-2008
Lost to: South Dade
Note:
At the time, Brandon's streak was the longest win streak by a team that
competes for a state championship (badminton is not a state
championship sport in New York, see Miller Place). Under coach Russ
Cozart, Brandon had posted a record of 647-6 during his tenure (which
did not include the first 74 wins of the streak) when he was inducted
into the FHSAA Hall of Fame in 2017.
5. 371, Christian Brothers Academy (Lincroft, N.J.), boys cross countryYears: 1974-current
Lost to: Ongoing
Note:
The Colts broke the national record of 265 in a row by
Blackstone-Millville Regional in 2004. Under coach Tom Heath, CBA won 26
state championships and Meet of Champions titles. Heath had a record of
421-7 over 45 years when he retired after the 2015 season.
6. 365, Parkland (Winston-Salem, N.C.), wrestlingYears: 2006-14
Lost to: Unknown
Note:
By competing in dual-meet tournaments, Parkland Magnet had seasons of
50 and 52 wins while racking up the second-highest dual-meet win total
in history. Coach Maurice Atwood left Parkland for West Forsyth at the
end of the 2014 season. There is no mention in the state association
website or on Wrestling USA when Parkland's win streak ended.
7. 329, Fayetteville-Manlius (Manlius, N.Y.), girls tennisYears: 1993-2014
Lost to: West Genesee
Note:
Coach Philip Rudolph was named national Coach of the Year by the NFHS
following the 2014 season. At that point in his career, he had a 420-6
record as the girls tennis coach.
8. 323, Wilson (Tacoma, Wash.), boys swimmingYears: 1960-83
Lost to: David Douglas
Note:
A year after the school opened, coach Dick Hannula and Wilson embarked
on a streak that included 24 straight state championships and a national
record 323 wins. Wilson's consecutive win total for all sports stood
until it was broken by Brandon wrestling. The streak is an unbeaten
streak as Wilson did have a tie in 1977.
9. 316, Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village, Colo.), boys tennisYears: 1972-99
Lost to: Wheat Ridge
Note:
During the 28-year streak, Cherry Creek won 27 state championships. The
only state title it didn't win was in 1991 when it lost to,
coincidentally, Wheat Ridge.
10. 292, Sweet Home (Amherst, N.Y.), girls volleyballYears: 1978-87
Lost to: Horseheads
Note:
At the time, Sweet Home's winning streak was the longest ever
for girls sports. Coach Sally Kus posted a 729-29 record in her 23
seasons as the team's coach.
11. 287, Fayetteville-Manlius (Manlius, N.Y.), boys tennisYears: 1998-2019
Lost to: West Genesee
Note:
Just like the girls team, the boys saw their streak end at the hands of
West Genesee. The streak stretched between former head coach Ron Fuller
and current head coach Mark McGuigan. Since 2002 under McGuigan, F-M
has gone 220-1.
12. 281, Cheshire (Conn.), girls swimmingYears: 1986-2011
Lost to: Glastonbury
Note:
Cheshire owns the longest girls swimming dual meet win streak in the
nation and also had a 67-meet streak through 2019. Coach Ed Aston posted
a 414-21 record with 25 state titles in his 33 years as head coach.
13. 265, Blackstone-Millville (Blackstone, Mass.), boys cross countryYears: 1974-93
Lost to: Bromfield
Note:
B-M broke the national record of 250 in a row by Freedonia and held
the record until it was broken by Christian Brothers Academy.
14. 255, Xavier College Prep (Phoenix), girls golfYears: 1996-2019
Lost to: Ongoing
Note:
Although Xavier College Prep lost the state championship to Pinnacle in
2019, it still has a 255-match win streak intact heading into the
2020-21 season. Head coach Sister Lynn Winsor has a record of 477-25 in
her tenure as head coach.
15. 251, North Penn (Lansdale, Pa.), boys swimmingYears: 1987-2005
Lost to: Emmaus
Note:
In 1987, Emmaus defeated North Penn in boys swimming. Eighteen years
later, Emmaus won again. In between, North Penn won 251 consecutive dual
meets for the third-longest streak in national history.
16. 250, Fredonia (N.Y.), boys cross countryYears: 1971-84
Note: The Fredonia streak lasted for eight years before Blackstone Millville surpassed the mark.
17. 247, Columbia (Maplewood, N.J.), girls volleyballYears: 1977-88
Lost to: A.L. Johnson (Clark, N.J.)
Note:
The team's first season was 1977 under coach Eugene Chyzowych, the
school's soccer coach. Columbia won the first game in the history of the
school and didn't lose until 1988 — a streak of 247 straight wins.
18. 247, Addison (N.Y.), boys cross countryYears: 1998-2008
Note:
Not much information can be found on this team, which is listed as
holding the second-longest dual meet win streak in New York history
behind Fredonia.
19. 244, Paul VI (Haddonfield, N.J.), boys cross countryYears: 1980-2007
Lost to: Camden Catholic
Note:
Paul VI holds the second-longest mark in New Jersey and a book has been
written about the streak by Jim Enright, who coached the final four
seasons of the streak.
20. 234, Elkhart Central (Elkhart, Ind.), girls swimmingYears: 1980-94
Lost to: Penn
Note:
Coach Karen Leeth led Elkhart Central for 26 seasons, ending in 1994.
She had a career record of 366-27-1 including the 234-match win streak,
which set a national record at the time.
21. 222, Haddonfield (N.J.), boys cross countryYears: 1997-current
Lost to: Ongoing
Note:
New Jersey is home to three boys cross country win streaks over 200.
Haddonfield's mark is the second-longest active streak and the
third-longest of all-time in the state.
22. 221, Pearl River (N.Y.), girls cross countryYears: 1990-2017
Lost to: Tappan Zee
Note:
The streak ended during a tri-meet. Pearl River defeated Nanuet during
the meet for win No. 221, but Tappan Zee scored their final runners to
end the streak.
23. 221, Weaver (Ala.), wrestlingYears: 1991-99
Lost to: Hartselle
Note:
Weaver won three consecutive 1A-4A state titles in 1996, 1997, and
1998. Coach Gene Taylor led the team to nine state championships and a
record of 501-34.
24. 218, Baskin (La.), girls basketballYears: 1947-53
Lost to: Winnsboro
Note:
The longest win streak for six-on-six girls basketball, Baskin won 71
games in a row after losing to Winnsboro for a run of 289-1. The streak
is the longest basketball win streak of all-time.
24. 218, Tucson High Magnet School (Tucson, Ariz.), girls tennisYears: 1959-73
Lost to: Sahuaro
Note: Tucson set the national record for consecutive girls tennis wins in the early 1970s, winning 10 state championships in the process. All of the wins were regular season wins as Arizona crowned state champions via singles/doubles play.
