The 7th Annual MaxPreps Football Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard made its next stop on the 50-team nationwide tour at Fayetteville, Arkansas. Not only is Fayetteville home to the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, but it is also home of the Fayetteville High School Bulldogs. The football team finished #117 in the MaxPreps Freeman rankings poll after a 12-2 season. In addition to winning their state championship and being highly ranked among 16,000 teams nationwide, the Bulldogs also ended rival Bentonville's 25 game winning streak.
Head coach Daryl Patton and his team was honored at halftime of their boy's basketball game on Tuesday, February 7th. At the beginning of our ceremony at halftime, the Fayetteville High School dance team performed a creative and enjoyable dance routine. Following the cheerleaders first rate performance, veteran MaxPreps representative, Chris Stonebraker performed a quick hop-step dance routine of his own and then spoke to the crowd about how proud the community should be of their Bulldogs. Chris spoke about the how special it was to be 1 of only 50 teams chosen to be honored on the Tour of Champions. Chris then turned the presentation over to Arkansas Army National Guard Major Leister. Major Leister presented an elated Coach Patton with the prestigious Army National Guard national ranking trophy. Coach Patton hoisted the "Minuteman" hardware, a symbol of perseverance and determination, above his head. To finish the ceremony, Major Leister called two Fayetteville High School recruits of the Army National Guard to half court. As both recruits stood at attention, Major Leister promoted the two young men to the class of Private! As the newly appointed Privates received their promotion, the Fayetteville crowd erupted in applause and a standing ovation!
