The MaxPreps west region football computer rankings are significant this week for which team is not in the rankings as much as it is for the 25 teams that are.
After a closer-than-expected 28-27 win over San Ramon Valley (Danville, Calif.), De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) dropped out of this week's rankings. Perennially one of the top teams in California and the North Coast Section champion for 24 straight years, De La Salle now has at least three Northern California teams that rank ahead of the Spartans - St. Mary's (Stockton) at No. 9, Freedom (Oakley) at No. 18 and Folsom at No. 24.
The regional rankings are based on the MaxPreps National Football Computer Rankings, presented by the Army National Guard. The West region consists of teams from Hawaii, Alaska, Colorado, Wyoming, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Utah.
