The Northern Virginia HomeSchool Centurions had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They rang in the new year with a 43-31 victory over Victory Baptist Academy. Northern Virginia HomeSchool's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Northern Virginia HomeSchool was led to victory by Jacob Gresham and Gabe Drown. Gresham scored 13 points, while Drown scored 15 points.
Several Saints players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaac Conaway, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hunt, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Northern Virginia HomeSchool pushed their record up to 8-1-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Victory Baptist Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northern Virginia HomeSchool will take on Fairfax HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Victory Baptist Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mercer Christian Academy at 8:00 p.m. on January 8th. Hopefully Mercer Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
