Hall’s final game of the season was against cross town rivals Conard High School. Lots of fans were there. The bleachers were packed shoulder to shoulder and the fence around the field was lined with people.
Hall received the football but fumbled it before they could do anything. This foreshadowed how the rest of the game would go for the Hall. Conard managed to score after the fumble on a 13 yard run by Larry Burns with 9:46 left in the first quarter. Hall got the ball but only managed to move it eight yards before they were forced to punt it away. So Conard drove the ball all the way back with runs from John Ezpezedo and a 37 yard pass by which set Conard up for a 1 yard touch down run by Burns. The score was now 14-0, Conard with 4:49 left in first half. The first play after the kick off resulted in a 32 yard pick 6 by Fisher making the score 21-0,, Conard with 4:25 left in the first. Conard managed to score two more times before the end on the half -- one on a 21 yard run by Ryan DeLoureiro and the second on a run by Gustafson after a 34 yard pass completion, making the score 35-0 going into the second half.
As the second half started Hall fans were desperate to see a score. Unfortunately Hall’s fans would have to wait a little longer because Conard’s second play from the scrimmage was a 70 yard touch down run by deLoureiro. After a few unsuccessful drives by both teams, Hall was able to put a successful drive together ending in a touchdown pass to Justin Cleaver. This brought the score to 42-7 with 8:11 left in the forth. That’s the way the score stayed until the end of the game.
A disappointing loss for Hall since it was against a rival school. However, Hall was not the only school that lost to Conard this season. This win for Conard topped off a perfect 10-0 season in which the Conard defense let up less than 100 points.
