MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
Bingham (South Jordan, Utah) Miners have officially been named to the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its 12th year honoring football.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the
MaxPreps National Rankings. For football, only 50 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 17,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Miners ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!
On Friday, Nov. 18 the Bingham Miners defeated the Lone Peak Knights (17-10) for the
2016 UHSAA Class 5A state title, which is their third title in four years and 10th overall. The win capped the team's perfect 14-0 season.
After losing to Lone Peak in the playoffs last year, the Miners avenged the loss with a regular season win (42-21) over the Knights in Week 3 and to top it off, the team stole the state crown with a big state championship win at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Bingham set the stage for a state final rematch against the defending champion Lone Peak with three 5A playoff wins over Hunter (49-9), Lehi (37-14) and Fremont (35-12).
At the end of the season, the Miners finished the season highly ranked by MaxPreps —
No.1 in Class 5A,
No.2 in the state,
No.12 in the West Region,
No.19 in the Xcellent 25 and
No.40 in the nation.
These incredible season achievements have earned the Bingham Miners an invitation to the 12th Annual Tour of Champions.
Please join us as we celebrate with the football team, coaching staff, students and fans on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 6:50 p.m. during pregame of the boys basketball game in the gym.
