While football might have dominated the national headlines in terms of moving seasons due to the coronavirus, high school volleyball also has been affected across the country. We've spotlighted the best high school volleyball player in each state, regardless of whether the schedule is being played as regularly planned or an alternate calendar is in place.
From All-Americans to up-and-comers, players were identified based on last year's statistical data provided to MaxPreps,
as well as local, state or national honors from multiple media outlets.
You could make the case that some, if not all, states could list out multiple players deserving of the honor. However, we've attempted to narrow it down to just one player per state set to serve, bump or spike it up this year.
6-foot-1 | OH | Sr. | Committed to SamfordThe All-State and al.com Hunstville All-Region Player of the Year smashed 23 kills and dug 19 balls in the Trojans' four-set loss in the 6A title game. She posted 771 kills, 135 blocks, 243 digs and 63 aces for 58-9 Hazel Green.

The Wolverines went 58-10-3 and won the 4A title thanks to Houser's 301 kills (second-best on the team), while she added 156 digs and 61 blocks.
ArizonaReagan Hope, Northwest Christian (Phoenix)
6-2 | MB | Sr. | OregonThe future Duck enters this season with nearly 1,300 kills for the reigning 3A champions. In 2019, Hope pounded 509 kills along with 272 digs and 92 aces.

While Mavericks libero Hannah Hogue was in the mix, the numbers Fitzgerald posted in the 6A runner-up season are impressive: 414 kills, 117 aces, 82 blocks, 238 digs and 416 serve receives.

While Elia Rubin and fellow Sea Hawk
Mele Corral-Blagojevich are worthy candidates and might be tops in following years, Miner's leadership, pedigree and stats are undeniable. The future Cardinal and daughter of former NBA player Harold Miner was a MaxPreps first-team All American in addition to playing on the gold-medal winning Girls U18 World Championship team last September in Egypt.

A first-team All-State pick for the Titans, Kadel blasted a team-high 428 kills with 71 blocks, 50 aces and 70 digs.
ConnecticutEmma Appleman, Guilford

Her 400 kills as a junior inched close to the 1,000-kill mark. The runner-up Indians also benefited from Appleman's 551 digs and 165 aces.

In a 3-1 state finals win, she pounded out 19 kills with four blocks and seven digs. She was one of two juniors named to the DIVCA first-team All-State team.
District of ColumbiaRachel Richardson, St. John's (Washington, D.C.)

Earning the District's Gatorade and Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors, Richardson led the Cadets to a 33-3 mark while posting 465 kills, 253 digs and 44 aces.
FloridaParis Thompson, Fort Myers
6-1 | OH | Sr. | Notre DameThe Fort Myers News-Press chose her as its Player of the Decade. In 2019, she set a school record with 446 kills, including a single-game mark of 31. A three-year standout, Thompson is approaching 1,000 career kills.

GeorgiaEvoni Lemons, Alpharetta

The 42-7 Raiders were paced by Lemons' 667 kills, hitting at a 45 percent rate. She added 454 digs, 45 blocks and 29 aces as Alpharetta was ranked in the MaxPreps Top 25 during the 2019 season.

Led the DI state champion Warriors in kills with 381, while pouring in 33 aces, 51 blocks, 247 digs and 163 serve receives. Kahahawai was on the Honolulu Star-Advertiser's Fab 15 team.

She was nails for the 34-14 5A champions, dishing up 729 assists while adding 207 digs and 236 kills. Clark also added 40 aces for the Titans.

The state Gatorade Player of the Year led the Warriors to a repeat 3A title. She had 415 digs, 232 assists and 32 aces while missing time with a gold medal stint at the FIVB U18 World Championships in Egypt.

The younger sister of the Trojans' duo, Mabrey pounded out 670 kills with 120 aces, 39 blocks, 228 digs and 337 serve receives as New Castle won its third straight Indiana title (the first 4A crown after back-to-back 3A championships.)
Iowa6-2 | OH | Jr. | Nebraska
The Hawkeye State's No. 1 Class of 2022 recruit according to prepdig.com, Kubik had 491 kills, 228 digs65 aces and 28 blocks for the 5A runners-up.
Kansas5-10 | S | Sr. | Creighton
In addition to being a first-team 6A All-State pick, Wait also was the state Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior. She notched 944 assists, 417 digs, 143 kills and 52 aces for the 6A consolation winners.
Kentucky5-6 | L/DS | Sr. | Kentucky
The state Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-State pick, Beavin had 555 digs and 505 serve receives last year (with nearly 1,200 of each in her career).
Louisiana6-0 | OH | Sr. | Undecided
The state Gatorade Player of the Year led the Rebels to a third straight DII title and a 44-6 mark. She had 526 digs, 517 kills, 86 assists, 85 blocks and 32 service aces. Hidalgo was the D-II state tournament MVP and a first-team All-State choice.
Maine6-3 | OH | Sr. | San Diego
A two-time All-State Player of the Year and Gatorade selection, Hester had 329 kills, 161 digs and 14 blocks as the Yachtsmen won the Class A title.
Maryland6-1 | OH | Sr. | Undecided
While leading the Sailors to s 23-3 mark and IAAM title, Goyena was named the state Gatorade Player of the Year while also picking up her third All-IAAM first team selection. She posted 405 kills, 133 digs and 58 aces.

Blasting 290 kills along with 182 digs and 60 aces earned Amory the Dual County League All-Star pick.
Michigan5-11 | OH | Sr. | Marquette
While leading the Red Arrows to a 55-4 mark and Division I runner-up finish, Reitsma hammered 873 kills along with 422 digs and 86 aces. She was a MaxPreps All-American and her monstrous year notched her ahead of other standouts Addie VanderWeide and Evelyn Doezema.

The Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year as well as the Gatorade selection, Orr's numbers across the board were noteworthy: 411 assists, 380 kills and 230 digs. She led the Wildcats to a 29-3 mark and a runner-up finish in the 3A championship. She already has more than 1,600 assists and 800 kills in two years.
Mississippi5-10 | OH | Sr. | LSU (beach)
Picking up where she left off, Bracken already has 120 kills on the season for the Raiders. Last year's Gatorade selection, she totaled 648 kills, 517 digs and 120 aces while leading her squad to the MidSouth Association of Independent Schools title. She was a Clarion Ledger first-team pick.

The All-State pick racked up 1,059 assists (more than 11 per set) and 255 digs in her sophomore season for the 37-4-1 Eagles, which won the Class 4 title.

The Bruins went 33-0 en route to their second straight AA state title in 2019 and the state Gatorade winner was a big reason. She posted 293 kills with 127 digs, 90 aces and 86 blocks. Bartsch was the Western Conference AA Player of the Year and is a two-time first team All-State pick.
NebraskaLindsay Krause, Skutt Catholic (Omaha)
6-3 | OH | Sr. | Nebraska
A MaxPreps All-American and state Gatorade recipient, Krause led the SkyHawks to a 34-5 mark and Class B title. She posted 360 kills, 152 digs and 28 blocks for Skutt Catholic. She also was part of the U18 gold medal team in Egypt last September while also landing on the Lincoln Journal Star Super-State first team and the Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska first team.

As a sophomore, she broke single-season state records for assists (1,474 at 13.3 per set) an aces (122) last fall. She added 294 digs, 63 kills and 32 blocks and sits at 2,097 assist with two years in her prep career.

The Red Raiders' setter led them to a quarterfinal appearance in the Division I state tournament while notching 507 assists, 187 digs, 27 kills and 34 aces.

The lone junior to be named first team All-State by NJ.com. Wilcock pounded 434 kills for the Public Group 3 state champion Minutemen (19-7). She added 45 assists, 279 digs and 30 aces and led West Morris Mendham to the Tournament of Champions finals.
New Mexico5-8 | OH | Sr. | New Mexico State
The two-time 5A All-State choice teamed with rising junior Erin Jones to lead the Bears to a 22-1 mark and stat title. McIntosh had 323 kills, 30 blocks and 71 digs

Blasting 523 kills — the second highest single-season total in school history — as a sophomore and led the Spartans to a 44-6 mark and Class A state crown. She added 278 digs and 52 aces and should pass the 1,000 career kill mark this season.

Playing on a nationally ranked team, Buckley dished up 451 assists, 262 digs, 260 kills (while hitting .421) and 46 aces for a 31-4 team that also snagged the NCISAA state crown.

The three-year started led 33-4 Eagles to their first state title, grabbing a 28-match win streak along the way. A stalwart all season, Solberg led the Eagles in the title tilt with 14 kills and three aces.

The future Gator pasted 442 kills (5.39 per set) while hitting .287. She added 40 blocks and 29 digs for the Cougars as they went 25-3 and reached the state semifinals.

A four-year starter as Oklahoma has started playing this fall, Cramer helped the Huskies to their second 6A title, capping a 29-5 year with a four-set title win over Broken Arrow. Last year, Cramer posted 505 digs for Edmond North.

She blasted 288 kills with 39 blocks as the Crusaders rose up and took an epic five-set 6A title win over Central Catholic. In the title match, Dowdall blasted 19 kills as Jesuit returns two other players from the championship team.

She ended 2019 with a team-best 515 kills along with 342 digs, 37 aces and 29 blocks. She also had a team-high 509 serve receptions.

With a lot of junior talent sprinkled on the All-State teams, Monroe stood out down the stretch for the Skippers on their way to an undefeated year and state title.

In each of her first two seasons, Singletary has posted at least 500 kills, notching 539 (second-best in the state) last season for the Cyclones. She also had 93 blocks.

A state Player of the Year nominee as a freshman, Reilly dished up 503 assists while adding 265 digs, 225 kills and47 aces for the 26-5 Knights, who fell in the AA title match. In addition to her state accolades, Reilly was a Freshman of the Year candidate from PrepVolleyball.com and named as one of 36 athletes to train as part of the Girls Incoming Youth Holiday National Training Team.

The Volunteer State Gatorade winner won her third Tennessee AAA title this season (the seventh straight for
Brentwood) while recording eye-popping number: 856 kills, 444 digs, 80
blocks and 87 aces.

The MaxPreps All-American already surpassed the 3,000 assist mark for the 6A champion Bobcats, including 1,944 last season. The
6-foot future Cowboy averaged more than 13 assists while chipping in 302 digs and 117 kills. The Lone Star State also has a handful of standouts who could've been on the list, including Charitie Luper, Ally Batenhorst, Cecily Bramschreiber and Averi Carlson.
