Video: JT Daniels goes off again
Nation's No. 1 junior quarterback adds to his gaudy numbers in big Trinity League win.Like taxes, the sun rise and LaVar Ball making headlines,
JT Daniels going off on a Friday night is a regular occurrence.
The
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) 6-foot-2, 205-pound junior quarterback, ranked the No. 1 QB in his class, led the nation's No. 1 team to another big victory with a 51-21 triumph over a very good Orange Lutheran squad.
Daniels completed 24 of 33 passes for 336 yards and five touchdowns, as the Monarchs improved to 9-0 on the season, 4-0 in the Trinity League. The USC commit also rushed for 45 yards on five carries.
One of the leading candidates for National Player of the Year has now completed 160 of 219 passes (73 percent) for 2,515 yards, 31 touchdowns and just three interceptions. He's also rushed for 320 yards and four scores.
For his career, Daniels has thrown for 10,406 yards and 131 touchdowns.
Mater Dei plays arch-rival Servite next week to close out the regular season and then has up to five more games in the playoffs. Add in his senior season and Daniels could easily approach 16,000 career passing yards.
Last season as a sophomore he set Orange County single-season records for passing yards (4,849) and touchdowns (67). Considering Carson Palmer, Mark Sanchez, Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley all prepped in the area, that's saying something.
