Scores, stats and other information from the three smallest classes in Missouri's state championship basketball tournament.
CLASS 3 – Stockton 74, Hermann 52After settling for a 17-17 tie at the conclusion of the first quarter, Stockton took control. The Tigers outscored Hermann 36-20 over the second and third stanzas to get some separation on the scoreboard and led 53-37 going into the final frame. Stockton forced 19 Bearcat turnovers and cashed in, scoring 25 points off of the gaffs.
Chayla Rutledge (29) and
Katie Cramer (25) led all scorers and combined for 54 points.
Garrett Burton and
Ashli Burton added 10 points apiece.
Shelby Winkelmann led the Bearcats with 22 points.
CLASS 2 – Purdy 55, Couch (Myrtle) 49Couch jumped out to a 15-7 advantage in the opening quarter on
Cassie Roberts' 3-pointer with 3:10 remaining in the period. But Purdy outscored the Indians 16-3 in the second quarter to take a 28-20 advantage at the half. Couch again jumped on Purdy in the third quarter taking a 31-30 lead on
Alex Hower's layup about midway through the quarter.
Addy Roller hit a 3-pointer shortly after and Purdy never trailed again. Roller, who led Purdy with 20 points, made four free throws in the final 12 seconds to secure the win.
Shelby White chipped in 19 points. Alex Hower scored a game-high 21 points for Couch, while
Elizabeth Nessling added 17 points for the runners-up.
CLASS 1 – Marion County (Philadelphia) 62, Exeter 38Marion County sophomore
Jessica Redd led all scorers with 26 points, including 14 in the second half when the Mustangs out scored Exeter 30-12. Class 1 tournament MVP
Randi Lee Plunkett added 18 points to the win.
Destani Stensrud led the runners-up with 14 points.
