High school football playoffs in Texas for classes 2A, 3A and 4A continue this weekend with quarterfinal play. The eight teams remaining in each bracket are ultimately looking to advance to state championship games scheduled for Dec. 16-19 at AT&T Stadium.
Among this weekend's highlights will be a pair of showdowns involving unbeaten teams in 4A Division 2. Averaging 47.7 points per game this season, Caddo Mills (12-0) look to advance to the semifinals against Gilmer (12-1), which is led by productive junior quarterback Brandon Tennison.
The other big contest pits Carthage (11-0) – which has allowed a total of 14 points in its last five games – against China Spring (11-2).
The postseason in classes 5A and 6A begin Dec. 10 with state championships tentatively set for Jan. 15-16, 2021.
