MaxPreps Northern California Top 25 high school football rankings

The regular season for most ranked teams comes to a close this week, outside the West Catholic Athletic League, making for some intriguing Week 10 showdowns for league championships.

This includes No. 3 Grant and No. 7 Jesuit meeting for the Delta League title at Jesuit on Saturday.

1. De La Salle (Concord) (Last week 1) 9-0
Section: North Coast
League: Freelance
Result: Beat Amador Valley (Pleasanton) 56-0 behind running backs Andrew Hernandez and Antoine Custer and a dominating defense. The Spartans' unbeaten streak against Northern California competition since 1992 is 257 games. Other wins this season include ranked foes in Foothill, Del Oro, Serra and Jesuit from the North and Byrnes (South Carolina) from the East and Servite (Anaheim) from the South.

2. Folsom (2) 9-0
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat Oak Ridge 42-14 as the starters pitched a shutout and Jake Browning tossed three touchdowns in steady rain to Josiah Deguara. Bailey Laolagi ran for two scores and Sam Whitney had two sacks. The run game was led by Tre Green (112 yards, a touchdown) and Bryan Weldy (101 yards). Folsom's last two losses were to No. 1 De La Salle, in the NorCal Open in 2012 and 2013.

3. Grant (Sacramento) (3) 9-0
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Delta
Result: Beat Davis 66-6 in allowing only a fumble return for a score. Deshawn Collins rushed for 189 yards and two scores and Mike Green II went for 89 and three and Donovan Brown passed for 176 yards and accounted for three scores. Grant is in the playoffs for an ongoing Sac-Joaquin Section record 23rd consecutive season. Earlier wins include 26-19 over then No. 8 Elk Grove.

4. Milpitas (5) 8-0
Section: Central Coast
League: Santa Clara Valley Athletic
Result: Beat previous No. 14 Los Gatos 27-21 as Victor Rodriguez intercepted a late pass just shy of the end zone to seal it in emerging as the No. 2 team in the Bay Area. Milpitas had allowed just six points in four games combined coming in.

5. Foothill (Pleasanton) (7) 8-1
Section: North Coast
League: East Bay Athletic
Result: Beat Granada (Livermore) 28-21 behind Kyle Kearns to clinch a league title for the first time since 2006. The loss was to No. 1 De La Salle 56-21.
Next: at Amador Valley (Pleasanton), Friday.

6. Clayton Valley Charter (Concord) (6) 9-0
Section: North Coast
League: Diablo Valley
Result: The top-ranked NorCal Division II team beat Ygnacio Valley (Concord) 69-13.
Next: vs. College Park (Pleasant Hill), Friday.

7. Jesuit (Carmichael) (8) 8-1
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Delta
Result: Beat Monterey Trail (Elk Grove) 28-21 as Beau Bisharat, Cole Brownholtz and Luke Bagley led the way. An earlier win was 42-38 over No. 8 Elk Grove. The loss was an opener to No. 1 De La Salle.

8. Elk Grove (10) 7-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Delta
Result: Beat Franklin (Elk Grove) 35-6 behind the running of Eltoro Allen, Manny Scott-Anderson and Spencer Sheff. The losses were to No. 3 Grant 26-19 and No. 7 Jesuit 42-38.

9. Serra (San Mateo) (4) 5-3
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Result: Lost to No. 13 Mitty 27-14. The other setbacks were to No. 1 De La Salle 41-13 and Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) 24-14. Earlier win includes beating No. 9 Valley Christian.
Next: vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco), Friday.

10. Valley Christian (San Jose) (11) 6-2
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic
Result: Beat St. Ignatius (San Francisco) 17-15 as Michael Machado led a winning drive, capped by a Nathan Parkin 22-yard field goal as time ran out to tighten up the ever-wild WCAL race. One loss was to No. 5 Milpitas.
Next: vs. No. 14 Mitty, Friday.

11. Bellarmine (San Jose) (12) 7-1
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic
Result: Beat Riordan (San Francisco) 28-15 to remain in first place in league play. An earlier win was 20-17 over No. 13 Mitty. The loss was to No. 9 Valley Christian.
Next: vs. St. Francis (Mountain View), Friday.

12. St. Mary's (Stockton) (13) 8-1
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Tri-City
Result: Beat Lodi 56-10 as Noah Righetti and Keaton Hampton led the charge. The loss was in double overtime to then-NorCal ranked St. Ignatius (San Francisco), 27-24, on a field goal after missing one from 35 yards out on the final play of regulation. A win includes No. 13 Los Gatos.

13. Los Gatos (14) 6-2
Section: Central Coast
League: Santa Clara Valley Athletic
Result: Lost to No. 4 Milpitas 27-21 in testing a defense that had allowed six points in the previous four games combined. The loss was to No. 12 St. Mary's, 35-32, in a thriller as a game-winning drive stalled on the 1 late.

14. Archbishop Mitty (San Jose) (16) 5-3
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Result: Beat previous No. 4 Serra 27-14 to create a three-way tie for first with Bellarmine and Valley Christian with Mitty in second. Mitty led this one 24-7 behind Brett Foley's two scores. The losses were to No. 13 Los Gatos 21-13, to St. Francis (Mountain View) 15-14 and to Bellarmine 20-17.

15. Merced (20) 7-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Central California
Result: Beat Turlock 10-7 in the rain behind leaders Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. and Jabar Byrd after trailing 7-0. The losses were to Fresno powers Edison and Clovis West.

16. Granite Bay (17) 7-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat previous No. 9 Rocklin 28-21 after trailing 21-0. Justin Yeaton, Tyler Brendel, Mike Gemulla and Cameron Smith led the way. One loss was to No. 2 Folsom.
Next: vs. No. 18 Del Oro, Friday.

17. Rocklin (9) 7-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Lost to No. 15 Granite Bay 28-21 after leading 21-0. The other setback was 56-21 to No. 2 Folsom after it was 14-14.

18. Del Oro (Loomis) (18) 4-5
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat Woodcreek (Roseville) 42-10 as Ben Hart and Dalton Gee returned interceptions 61 and 40 yards for scores and Logan Hurst accounted for two touchdowns, including a touchdown pass to brother Mason Hurst. The losses were to No. 1 De La Salle, No. 2 Folsom and powers from Hawaii and San Diego.

19. Campolindo (Moraga) (18) 9-0
Section: North Coast
League: Diablo Foothill
Result: The top-ranked Division III team in NorCal beat Miramonte (Orinda) 49-12 to remain a frontrunner as a bowl threat.

20. James Logan (Union City) (16) 7-2
Section: North Coast
League: West Alameda County
Result: Beat Washington (Fremont) 42-6. A loss was 47-7 to No. 1 De La Salle.

21. Inderkum (Sacramento) 8-1
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Tri-County
Result: Beat previous No. 19 Rio Linda 62-21 as wing-T wonders Jonathan Henry, Larry Hardy, Jimmie Johnson and Austin Thurman accounted for seven touchdowns. The loss was to then higher-ranked Monterey Trail (Elk Grove) when a last-play field goal missed.

22. Napa (21) 7-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Monticello Empire
Result: Beat Rodriguez (Fairfield) 50-0 to clinch at least a share of the league title in emerging as a sudden section D-I contender. An earlier win was over No. 23 Vacaville 26-14.

23. Vacaville (22) 7-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Monticello Empire
Result: Beat Vintage (Napa) 44-28 behind Chad Hekking to remain within striking distance of first-place and No. 22 Napa, which beat the Bulldogs 26-14. An earlier effort was a 13-7 win over No. 16 Granite Bay.

24. Enterprise (Redding) (23) 8-1
Section: Northern
League: Eastern
Result: Beat Red Bluff 63-7 to remain the top team in the Northern Section a year after reaching a CIF State Bowl. The loss was 44-22 at No. 22 Vacaville.

League: Valley Oak
Result: Beat Lathrop 57-0 as the wing-T ran roughshod in the rain.

Result: Beat Monterey 21-7 to clinch at least a share of the league title.
