LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Five student-athletes captured the latest MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Spring Player of the Week awards of the 2026 season, the Association announced on Monday. They are being recognized for their outstanding play for the week of March 9-15.
East Region - MK Edwards - School Without Walls (Washington DC)Edwards batted .400 (2-for-5) with five runs, two walks and three RBI for the Penguins to earn East Region honors. The sophomore was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI versus Georgetown Day and 1-for-2 with four runs and two RBI against St. Andrews Episcopal.
In the North, Frye was 8-for-9 (.889) with eight runs, two doubles, a triple, five walks and 10 RBI for the Warriors. The sophomore had four multi-hit and multi-RBI games, and recorded extra-base hits against Neoga, St. Thomas More and Woodlawn. She scored two or more runs in three of her four contests.
South Region - Trinity Jolly - Bridges Prep (Beaufort, SC)Jolly was the leader in the South Region, going 5-for-5 for the Buccaneers in a doubleheader sweep of Whale Branch. In game one, she was 3-for-3 with four runs, a homer and four RBI. Then in the nightcap, Jolly added two more hits, including a triple, and scored four more runs.
South Central - Kenzie McLean - Cross Plains (TX)Honors went to McLean after excelling on both sides of the field for the Buffaloes. The freshman pitched 5.1 innings of no-hit ball against Bangs, fanning 15 and walking none. Meanwhile, she helped her cause at the plate in the 11-8 victory, going 4-for-5 with three runs, and two RBI.
West Region - Eunice Velazquez - Marshall (Pasadena, CA)Velazquez garnered West Region recognition after a three-game stretch for the Eagles during which she was 10-for-10 with 10 runs, four doubles, two triples, four walks and 17 RBI without striking out once. She had three hits in each of her first two contests, then had four hits in her final game. Velazquez collected three or more runs and drove in at least five runs in all three appearances.
