In its seventh year honoring girls volleyball, the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, made a stop on Friday, Dec. 16 to recognize the
Brentwood (Tenn.) volleyball team for winning its fourth consecutive and 12th overall state championship under head coach Barbara Campbell. The Bruins (51-4) finished
No.14 in the MaxPreps national rankings, with over 13,000 high school varsity volleyball teams considered.
Over the last 25 years the Bruins have finished at least first or second in the state of Tennessee 19 times and since 1988 they have a remarkable .846 winning percentage.

During the school's lunch period, the Tennessee Army National Guard had a table set up during lunch in the cafeteria, proudly displaying the Army National Guard national ranking trophy and visiting with hundreds of students This built up the excitement for the Tour of Champions celebration was set to take place during halftime of the boys basketball game.
Later that night, 750 students and fans gathered in the gym for the Brentwood boys basketball game and halftime TOC trophy ceremony. As the first half of the boys basketball game ended, MaxPreps representative Dean Craig was introduced to kick off the long-awaited presentation. Craig shared MaxPreps' process of determining the team rankings for the Tour of Champions and spoke of the tremendous accomplishments of Coach Campbell and the Bruins volleyball team.
Next, Craig introduced Tennessee Army National Guard Sergeant Jason Tracey to a rousing ovation, as he congratulated the team on their recognition of being one of the top teams in the nation. Sergeant Tracey was joined by Master Sergeant Rebecca Ingram and Sergeant First Class Mike Semeja as he presented the Army National Guard national ranking trophy and nationally ranked rafter banner to Coach Campbell and the team. The crowd cheered as the girls hoisted the trophy into the air and held the rafter banner up as they posed proudly for pictures.
The team, coaches, Athletic Director Ron Seigenthaler and all of the audience present were extremely appreciative of the national attention on the Tour of Champions. Coach Campbell could not thank MaxPreps and the Army National Guard enough for all they have done for high school sports and for Brentwood HS.
Congratulations to Coach Campbell and the Bruins on winning their fourth-straight state championship and finishing the season ranked No. 14 nationally by MaxPreps.
