The map doesn't lie.
Former Florida and Texas high school football players, which have dominated NFL first round picks for the last 20 years, did so again on Thursday night.
Florida was next in line with four first round picks, led by the ninth selection, C.J. Henderson, a defensive back from
Columbus (Miami), who went to the Jaguars.
With 76 selections since 2001, Florida still has a wide margin of No. 1 picks over Texas (58), California (46) and Georgia (42).
Other states with multiple picks Thursday were Georgia (3), Louisiana (3) and Alabama (2).
The seven picks broke the Texas mark of six first round selections in 2010 when former
Lufkin receiver
Dez Bryant was the 24th selection overall by the Cowboys. The top Texas pick that year was former
Longview defensive tackle Trent Williams, who went to the Redskins with the fourth overall pick.
The most first round picks from one state was nine by Florida in 2001. The biggest name from that group was receiver Santana Moss, who attended
Carol City (Miami). The Sunshine State has also claimed seven first round picks in each of the 2014, 2015 and 2016 drafts.

Joe Burrow became the first top overall selection from Ohio since Orlando Pace, the first pick in 1997 by the St. Louis Rams.
On Thursday, Burrow sported a shirt with the Athens area code of 740, telling ESPN's Suzy Kolber, "I wanted to do something to represent my hometown and show them as much appreciation as I can."
After he lost his last high school game in 2014, a 56-52 loss despite throwing for a Division III state title record 446 yards and six touchdowns, he told reporters "This is the worst day of my life." Thursday might have been the best. "It's a dream come true," said Burrow, the only Ohio prep player who was selected in the first round.
* California had just one pick, the fourth quarterback taken in No. 27 selection Jordyn Love to the Packers. He'll back up another Golden State native in Aaron Rodgers, of
Pleasant Valley (Chico, Calif.).
* Brandon Aiyuk, a wide receiver from McQueen (Reno), became Nevada's third first round pick in 20 years. He was selected 25th by the 49ers.
