Ranked No. 2 in this week's MaxPreps Pennsylvania high school football rankings, Pine-Richland is solidifying its reputation as one of the state's powerhouse programs. Coming off a 43-0 thrashing of Penn Hills, the Rams have outscored opponents 130-20 in three outings this season.
Pine-Richland is 40-5 since 2016, when it went 16-0 with Phil Jurkovec at quarterback and beat St. Joseph's Prep 41-21 in the AAAAAA state championship game.
Speaking of St. Joseph's Prep, the Hawks are slated to open their season Saturday against Life Christian Academy (Chester, Va.). Prep is ranked No. 4 nationally this week by MaxPreps.
No. 8 Southern Columbia Area extended its win streak to 51 games with a 50-20 victory over Loyalsock Township.
