The biggest high school football game of the week was a one-sided affair as No. 3 Westlake (Austin, Texas) cruised to a 63-21 win over rival Lake Travis (Austin). The Chaparrals' five-star quarterback
Cade Klubnik returned after missing the last three games with a shoulder injury and accounted for five touchdowns. Westlake finished the regular season 10-0 and extended its winning streak to 34 games. Sophomore running back
Jack Kayser had a monster night accounting for over 400 all-purpose yards and two scores.
The back-to-back state champs will be in the 6A Division 2 playoff bracket this season. They won the 6A D2 championship in 2019 and took home the 6A Division 1 title last year.
Braylin Presley and No. 19 Bixby (Okla.) continued their dominance with a 69-20 win over Booker T. Washington (Tusla). The Spartans are now three wins away from breaking Wagoner's state record of 48 consecutive victories. This was the sixth time this season the three-time defending 6A-II state champs have scored more than 60 points in a game.
No. 10 Chandler (Ariz.) pulled out a tough 10-7 win over Highland (Gilbert) to reel off its 45th straight victory. The Wolves currently have the fourth longest active win streak in the country and they close out the regular season on Nov. 12 at No. 15 Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.). The Huskies improved to 9-0 with a 58-17 win over Higley (Gilbert).
No. 8 Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.) extended its winning streak to 25 with a 41-7 win over Columbus North (Columbus) in the second round of the 6A state playoffs. Up next for the defending champs is (7-3) Lawrence North (Indianapolis) with a spot in the 6A semifinals on the line. The Trojans won the regular season meeting 43-19.
No. 17 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) rolled to a 63-6 win over Foothill (Henderson) to advance to the third round of the 5A state playoffs. The Gaels have now outscored their first seven in-state opponents 387-6. Up next is the defending 4A state champs, (10-1) Liberty (Henderson), who is the last in-state team to beat the Gaels. They snapped Gorman's streak of 10 consecutive state titles with a 30-24 overtime win in the 4A quarterfinals in 2019.
The Alabama 7A state playoffs features two MaxPreps Top 25 teams and they both rolled in their playoff opener. No. 18 Hoover cruised to a 56-14 win over Sparkman (Harvest) and the back-to-back 7A champs beat Florence 49-10.
