Aspen (Colo.),
long famous for skiing, is going to be a must-stop for college football
recruiters over the next four years, according to a story in the Aspen
Times.
There is great excitement over freshman Tucker Beirne, a
6-2, 210-pound quarterback. Assistant coach Lawrence Altman called him
"a boy in a man's body. He's going to be spectacular. He probably knows
defenses better than I do. His ability is beyond anyone's
understanding." Head coach Mike Sirko added, "I don't want to freak
Tucker out...but, man, he has all the tools to do a lot of great
things."
* Six-foot-9, 235-pound basketball standout Zach Peters is going to also play football this fall as a senior at
Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas),
according to the Dallas Morning News. The University of Kansas recruit
was a wide receiver as a freshman, but had not played the past two
years.

St. Joseph (Mich.)
football coach Elliot Uzelac, who spent most of his career in the
college ranks, has resigned after compiling a 45-13 record over the past
five years. The school was 11-43 during the previous six years before
he revived the program. The 69-year-old coach told the South Bend
Tribune he resigned due to a conflict with the administration.

Cypress Bay (Weston, Fla.)
linebacker Josh Witt has made a commitment to Miami University,
according to the Sun-Sentinel. The 6-2, 215-pounder made over 100
tackles as a junior and can run 40 yards in 4.5 seconds.

Anthony Maddie
has committed to Western Michigan University. He threw for 2,468 yards
and 26 touchdowns while rushing for 611 yards and four touchdowns as a
junior.

quarterback Mitch Leidner has made a commitment to the University of
Minnesota, according to the Star Tribune. Leidner (6-4, 220) passed for
2,096 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior.

Isaac Seumalo
has committed to Oregon State University. He is ranked as the state's
No. 1 rising senior and his father, Joe, is defensive line coach at
Oregon State.

Nick Jordan
has chosen the University of Texas, according to the Dallas Morning
News. As a junior, the 6-2, 175-pounder kicked 75 extra points and was
8-of-9 on field goal attempts.

Nick Tompkins
has chosen Michigan State over the University of Illinois. As a junior,
Tompkins rushed for 1,890 yards and 22 touchdowns for the Class AAAAA
state champions.
