The initial player rankings for the Class of 2027 were released Wednesday by
247Sports with
Elijah Haven of
Dunham (Baton Rouge, La.) at the top of the list as the nation's No. 1 prospect. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound quarterback already has offers from Baylor, Florida, Miami, Mississippi and Texas Tech.
Haven completed 67 percent of his passes as a freshman for 2,205 yards and 35 touchdowns. On the ground he added 641 yards and 12 scores. He is the first Dunham player to be rated in the top five since Derek Stingley Jr. finished his high school career as the No. 2 recruit in the Class of 2019.
Last year's
MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year —
Trent Seaborn — is the ninth-rated quarterback. The 6-foot-1, 187-pound signal caller from
Thompson (Alabaster, Ala.) threw for 2,601 yards and 27 touchdowns while leading the Warriors to the state championship.

Georgia and Texas had the most players included among the top 100 in the class with 13 followed by California (12), Florida (9) and Mississippi (5).
Georgia is led by
D.J. Jacobs of
Blessed Trinity (Roswell, Ga.). The 6-foot-5, 215-pound edge rusher had 74 tackles and four sacks a year ago for the Titans.
Wide receiver
Ethan Feaster of
DeSoto (Texas) is the top-rated player in Texas. The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder is ranked as the No. 8 overall player after catching 32 passes for 634 yards and nine touchdowns in 2023.
In total, 31 different states had at least one player on the list.
Thirteen of the 100 selections play for teams in the
MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings, led by
Richard Wesley of No. 17
Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.). He is the top-rated player in California and second-rated overall. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound edge rusher had 55 tackles and 10 sacks in 2023.
No. 1
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) has the No. 5 overall player in tight end
Mark Bowman. In the state championship game Bowman caught a touchdown, one of the four scores he had in 2023.
No. 3
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) had the most players featured with four in
Tranard Roberts,
Charles Roberts,
Censere Gaylord and
Amarri Irvin. Roberts averaged more than 12 yards per carry as a freshman at Williston (Fla.) a season ago.
