Video: Texas Top 25 high school football rankingsDuncanville remains No. 1 as most of Top 25 win in dominant fashion. It was not only the fact that all 23 of the MaxPreps Texas Top 25 in action were victorious that made Week 8 unusual, but rather the decisive manner in which the games were decided.
The average scoring differential in the 23 victories (two teams had open dates) was a robust 39.5 points. Only one game was decided by less than 16 points: No. 14 Lone Star (Frisco) edged District 5-5A-1 foe The Colony 41-38.
Fort Bend Marshall (Missouri City), No. 21 in the ranking, was at the other end of spectrum with the largest winning margin of 68 points in Saturday's 70-2 rout of Sharpstown (Houston).
Five of the ranked teams posted shutouts: No. 2 Katy, No. 3 North Shore (Houston), No. 13 Cy-Fair (Cypress), No. 17 Aledo and No. 23 Brandeis (San Antonio). Another 10 held their opponent to no more than seven points.
One of the best defensive efforts came from No. 18 Martin (Arlington), holding rival Arlington to 135 yards in a 21-3 victory. The Colts came into the game with a 5-1 record averaging 440.5 yards and 47 points. Junior defensive tackle Cooper Evans was responsible for three of Martin's season-high nine quarterback sacks.

Ranking by classification
Class 6A

2. Katy (7-0)
3. North Shore (Houston) (6-1)
4. Allen (7-0)
5. Carroll (Southlake) (7-0)
6. Longview (7-0)
7. Guyer (Denton) (6-1)
8. Judson (7-0)
9. Westfield (Houston) (6-1)
10. DeSoto (7-0)
As the 6A teams jockey for playoff positions in the final three weeks of the regular season, it appears the current top five and seven of the top 10 will land in Division I this season. The top four finishers in each district are placed in divisions based on school enrollment with the largest two schools going to Division I. Despite owning the best district record, No. 6 Longview, No. 9 Guyer and No. 11 Westfield would be in Division 2 if the season ended now.

Jake Bogdon rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns, including a 55-yard game-winner with 4:22 remaining, to send Lone Star to a 41-38 victory over The Colony. There were four lead changes in a wild fourth quarter, but it took only 44 seconds for Lone Star to reply to The Colony's final score.

2. Aledo (6-1)
3. FB Marshall (Missouri City) (7-1)
4. A&M Consolidated (College Station) (7-0)
5. Calallen (Corpus Christi) (7-0)
The rushing combination of Charles Hill (15-111, two touchdowns) and Jeremiah Earls (14-110, touchdown) helped No. 5 Calallen overcome an early seven-point deficit in a 35-14 victory over Tuloso-Midway (Corpus Christi).

1. Argyle (7-0)
2. Carthage (7-0)
3. La Vega (Waco) (6-1)
4. Decatur (7-0)
5. Brownwood (7-0)

3A-1
1. Grandview (7-0)
2. Malakoff (6-1)
3. Wall (7-0)
4. Pottsboro (8-0)
5. Jefferson (6-1)
Mason Fuchs threw first-half touchdown passes to Kye Herbert and Connor Dierschke and that was all the Wall defense needed in a 14-7 victory over previously unbeaten Jim Ned (Tuscola).
3A-2
1. Canadian (7-0)
2. East Bernard (8-0)
3. Rogers (7-0)
4. Gunter (7-1)
5. Palmer (7-0)
Opposing quarterbacks do not have a lot of time to scan the defense when playing No. 1 Canadian. Even before walloping Childress 51-14 in its most recent victory, Canadian was averaging 4.7 quarterback sacks per game. Senior defensive end Rhet Pennington leads the team in sacks.
2A-1
1. Refugio (7-0)
2. San Saba (7-0)
3. Shiner (8-0)
4. San Augustine (7-0)
5. Holland (8-0)
Shiner, ranked No. 3, was not intimidated with the task of going on the road to face an unbeaten opponent. The Comanches improved to 8-0 with a 52-7 rout of Weimar (7-1). Donyai Taylor led the attack with nine carries for 148 yards and two scores.
2A-2
1. Bremond (7-1)
2. Christoval (7-0)
3. Ralls (7-0)
4. Sudan (7-0)
