MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
Union (Tulsa, Okla.) Redskins have officially been named to the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its 12th year honoring football.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the
MaxPreps National Rankings. For football, only 50 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 17,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Redskins ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!
On Friday, Dec. 2 the Redskins topped previously unbeaten Norman North (57-43) in the
OSSAA Class 6A-I state final for their ninth state championship and first since 2011.

Union took a 29-7 lead over the Timberwolves going into halftime and controlled most of the game at Chapman Stadium. Senior running back and Tulsa University commit Shamari Brooks led the team with 228 yards on 33 carries and scored three touchdowns in the title game victory.
The team bounced back from a pair tough losses to Jenks and Norman North in the regular season, and avenged both losses in the state semifinal and state championship games, respectively.
At the end of the season (11-2), the Redskins finished highly ranked in the MaxPreps rankings system —
No.1 in Class 6A-I,
No.1 in the state,
No.8 in the Southwest Region and
No.49 in the nation.
These incredible season achievements have earned the Union Redskins an invitation to the 12th Annual Tour of Champions.
Please join us as we celebrate with the football team, coaching staff, students and fans on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. during halftime of the boys basketball game in the gym.
