Barnett originally committed to Notre Dame during his junior year, but backed off that pledge to consider Pac-12 power Oregon, among others.
He ultimately committed to Nick Saban and the University of Alabama and is expected to enroll early.
Barnett emerged on the scene as a junior, throwing for 2,322 yards and 22 scores. However, it was not until the summer before his senior season that Barnett vaulted into the stratosphere of elite recruits.

The 6-foot-5, dual-threat quarterback earned MVP honors at the Elite 11, beating out 17 of the nation's best players at the position. He later earned a No. 1 ranking among dual-threat quarterbacks
in the 247Sports Composite, checking in as the No. 17 recruit overall.
His senior season has not gone quite as smoothly thus far. Through three games, he has an equal number of touchdowns and interceptions (three) and his passing yards per game is down slightly.
However, the future is still incredibly bright for Barnett. He and his teammates will attempt to bounce back this weekend when Santiago hosts Silverado.
