two-time Defensive Player of the Year by the Pasadena Star-News,
McCarthy had 55 tackles and nine sacks while facing double and triple
teams most of the season. He helped Monrovia win the Mid-Valley Division of
the Southern Section.
Chris Rabb, DL, 5-11, 210, Hueytown (Ala.), UndecidedRabb earned Super 12 honors in Alabama and Metro Defensive Player of the Year honors in Birmingham after making 119 tackles, 59 for loss, and 21 sacks with seven fumble recoveries.
Azziz Shittu, DL, 6-3, 275, Buhach Colony (Atwater, Calif.), UndecidedNamed the Defensive Player of the Year by the Merced Sun Star and also earned a place on the Modesto Bee All-District Team after making 89 tackles with eight sacks.
Travis Britz, DL, 6-4, 280, Harrisonville (Mo.), Kansas State

Britz earned the Bert Bell Award for the best small school lineman in Kansas City and was also the Division 4 defensive state player of the year by the coaches association. He landed on the Kansas City Star All-Metro team and had 70 tackles with seven sacks on the season.
Alex Bertrando, LB, 6-3, 215, Del Oro (Loomis, Calif.), NevadaBertrando earned All-Metro Defensive Player of the Year honors by the Sacramento Bee after leading the Golden Eagles to a 13-2 record and a berth in the California Division II state bowl game. He had 74 tackles and four sacks on the season.
Juwaan Rogers, LB, 6-0, 228, Amite (La.), UndecidedRogers earned Class 3A Defensive Player of the Year honors by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association after posting 151 tackles, eight sacks, six fumble recoveries and two interceptions. The Amite defense had six shutouts on the season and finished second in the state behind St. Charles Catholic. Rogers is a three-time all-state selection.

Timber Creek won the South Group 3 championship and went undefeated (12-0) behind the play of Lambert, who had 102 tackles on the season. Lambert was also the Courier Post Defensive Player of the Year.
DeRick Castro, LB, 5-6, 165, Sinton (Texas), UndecidedCastro earned all-state honors and was the Caller Times Defensive Player of the Year. He had 153 tackles with two sacks, two forced fumbles and two blocked field goals.

leading the Highlanders to the California Division II Bowl
championship, Smith earned San Diego Section Defensive Player of the
Year honors.
Najee Murray, DB, 5-11, 172, Steubenville (Ohio), Ohio StateThe Ohio Division III Defensive Player of the Year, Murray also landed a spot on the JJ Huddle All-State Team. He helped Big Red to a 10-0 regular season with 54 tackles.
Kevin Peterson, DB, 5-11, 170, Wagoner (Okla.), Oklahoma

Picked by the Oklahoma City Oklahoman as the state Defensive Player of the Year, Peterson had 42 tackles and three interceptions on defense and added 1,621 yards rushing with 25 touchdowns on offense.
Patrick Levels, DB, 5-11, 180, Roosevelt (Dallas), UndecidedNamed the Class 3A state Defensive Player of the Year, Levels led the Mustangs with 177 tackles and eight interceptions.
JaRyan Jennings, DB, 6-0, 170, South Pointe (Rock Hill, S.C.), UndecidedNamed to the Rock Hill Herald all-area team and selected Class 3A state Defensive Player of the Year by the High School Sports Report. Finished with 115 tackles, six interceptions and two defensive touchdowns for the state champions.
Tony Kiefer, P, 5-10, 185, McAlester, UndecidedAn all-around player, Kiefer earned all-state honors as a punter in Oklahoma, but he also threw for 3,523 yards and 37 touchdowns and rushed for 1,457 yards and 27 scores.
