Wisconsin high school basketball: Mr. Basketball semifinalists

The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association has released semifinalists for the annual Mr. Basketball award, which will be presented to the state's best senior at the WIAA state tournament in March.

The semifinalist list includes 10 players, with five finalists to be released after the regular season.

Zavier Castillo, 6-6, Greendale
Averages 25 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game for the Panthers (13-5).

Yusef Gray Jr., 6-5, West Allis Central
The Iowa State recruit tallies 25.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 steals per contest for the Bulldogs (16-1).

Amare Hereford, 6-2, Beloit Memorial
One of the top scorers in the state, Hereford is averaging 37.1 points per game for the Purple Knights (14-2). He also puts up 9.1 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 4.7 steals per contest.

Andrew Jensen, 6-9, Kaukauna
DePaul commit averages 17.3 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Galloping Ghosts (17-2).

Cahlil Jones, 6-3, Germantown
Jones tallies 23.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest for the Warhawks (10-6).

Josh Manchester, 6-4, Mount Horeb
Averaging 28.2 points per game for the Vikings (14-5).

Chris Pohl, 6-8, Marshfield
Wyoming commit posting 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for the Tigers (14-2).

Kayden Schultz, 6-3, Plymouth
Schultz, a Division II Michigan Tech commit, is averaging 28.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game for the Panthers (11-6).

J.J. Zavatchin, 6-3, Oostburg
Division III Bethel University commit tallies 30.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest for the Flying Dutchmen (16-2).

Zavier Zens, 6-7, Wisconsin Lutheran
Northern Iowa recruit is averaging 24.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game for the Vikings (18-0). Zens has helped Wisconsin Lutheran claim state titles the past two seasons while suffering just two losses over that span.
