The Xavier Hawks had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.8 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-7 victory over Wisconsin Dells at home. The result was nothing new for Xavier, who have now won eight contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Xavier's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Des jardins led the charge by rushing for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Des jardins was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Potter, who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Xavier's win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Seymour and 1-8 New London (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 44.6% over those games). As for Wisconsin Dells, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Xavier will face off against Winneconne at 0:00 a.m. on Friday. Winneconne will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Xavier is ranked 32nd). Wisconsin Dells does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
