"I felt more comfortable with Purdue," Williams told the Tribune-Review. "I like the Illinois coaches, but Purdue showed me more love."
Williams, who is listed at 6-foot-3 and between 205 and 210 pounds, was both a wide receiver and linebacker for Gateway but will play linebacker in college. In choosing Purdue over Illinois he keeps the Illini from having two Gateway players from the Class of 2011. In November Dandi Kirby decided that Illinois was for him.
Williams will, however, be playing with WPIAL foe Rob Kugler, a defensive lineman/tight end from North Allegheny, who is also headed to Purdue.
