Following another loss by a team occupying the top spot in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings, the nation has a new No. 1 high school football team.
Bishop Gorman tops this week's poll after racing to an 8-0 record that includes victories over St. John Bosco and Bingham, both of whom are nationally ranked this week.
A loss by Don Bosco Prep to Paramus Catholic paved the way for Bishop Gorman's ascent. It also allowed Paramus Catholic to enjoy a major boost in the rankings as well.
As league play continues in most states, the rankings likely will continue to fluctuate heading into the playoffs.
