Video: Amazing soccer goalie saves
Watch as these keepers do the extraordinary.
Senior forward Monse Camarena is making the most of her final year at St. Michael's (Santa Fe) by leading the state of New Mexico in two major categories for girls soccer. Also a track standout, she is No. 1 in scoring with 62 points and 22 goals in 11 games, according to MaxPreps statistics.
Junior Tiana Baca gives St. Michael's two players in the state's top 10 with 17 goals (tied for No. 6) and 46 points (tied for No. 5).
Socorro also has a high-scoring team with three players ranking among the state's top 10 in two categories. Kayla Botko, just a freshman, is tied for No. 3 with 47 points and is No. 5 with 18 goals. Another Socorro freshman, Kaylene Baca, is tied for third with 19 goals and is No. 7 with 44 points. Junior Danielle Moore is tied for fifth with 46 points and is tied for eighth with 16 goals.
Defensively, the leader by a fairly large margin is Atrisco Heritage Academy (Albuquerque) senior goalkeeper Lizbeth Arrerondo with 107 saves. She is averaging 11.9 saves per game in just 220 minutes of action. At a distant second is another senior, Melina Kiesling with 87 in 800 minutes.
