Nearly a month into the season and there's much more clarity in the Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.
With that clarity, however, comes movement — starting at the top with new No. 1 St. Edward.
The Eagles (3-0) come off an overwhelming 42-0 victory over St. Joseph Regional to move to 3-0. It has outscored opponents 127-14 and looks to be perhaps the most well-balanced team in the country.
Up 10 spots to No. 2 is Don Bosco Prep, which etched the most impressive single performance of the season when it trounced St. Thomas Aquinas 24-7. St. Thomas Aquinas entered as the No. 1 ranked team in the
MaxPreps Composite Top 25.
Allen is the new top team in Texas and checks in at No. 3. With
Kyler Murray behind center, the Eagles will be extremely difficult to defeat. However, their defense needs to continue to improve. The Eagles have scored 171 points but allowed 122.
Skyline (Dallas, Texas), Chandler (Ariz.) and Archbishop Wood (Pa.) all join the rankings this week.
