Two NFL rookies will get their first shots at starting when games kick off today: Teddy Bridgewater of the Minnesota Vikings and Blake Bortles of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Both of these first-round picks didn't have to wait long to get the nod, as it's only the fourth week of the NFL season.
Bortles and Bridgewater also had solid prep careers before moving on to college and then the pros. But their high school performances were definitely different, except for the fact that both attended Florida high schools.
First off, Bortles, an alum of
Oviedo (Fla.), graduated in 2010 and Bridgewater graduated in 2011 from
Northwestern (Miami). Second, Bridgewater played in 27 games over three varsity campaigns while Bortles appeared in 16 contests over two seasons. Lastly, Bortles' team was bounced in its first playoff game in his senior season and finished 9-2 while Bridgewater led his squad to a 9-3 mark that included a playoff win.
