Central Sequoia recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Central Sequoia this week, Kingsburg beat Coalinga 33-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Vikings.
Kingsburg moved up to 246 from 299 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Dave Steele's team climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Horned Toads 33-0.
Marcus McMaryion threw for 306 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 13-20 with 0 interceptions.
Brendan Washington was a key player and the best on defense this week as Exeter defeated Yosemite. The 6-foot-2 senior recorded 1 fumble and racked up 1 sack.
Mario Rodriguez was the best receiver in the league this week as Dinuba beat Delano. Rodriguez racked up 3 receptions for 105 yards. Even Herod helped Dinuba's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 99 yards.
On the heels of McMaryion and Michael Wright, the Emperors have had great success on offense. McMaryion leads the league in passing with 1,326 yards, while Wright has rushed for 1,028 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is the Monarchs' Alex Cortez, with 337 yards on 20 catches.
Austin Cardoza of the Exeter is only 86 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 106 carries Cardoza has accumulated 914 yard this year.
A big matchup in Central Sequoia this week will be when Dinuba takes on Central Valley Christian. Kevin Scharton's team is in second place, while the Cavaliers are in third place.
Ben White's team took down the Badgers 68-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Adin Trujillo threw for 106 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win.
