Week 2 of the Wisconsin high school football season is here and we are putting the spotlight on the biggest games.
Week 2 games to watch
No. 3 Appleton North (1-0) at No. 10 West De Pere (1-0)Thursday, 7 p.m. – Watch live NFHS Network | Tickets via GoFanAppleton North topped Mukwonago 10-7 to open the season. Running back
Brock Struensee led the Lightning with 140 yards on 30 carries. West De Pere is coming off a 42-20 win over Sun Prairie East. In his first career start,
Andrew Greisen completed 26 of 38 passes for 385 yards and five touchdowns.
No. 7 Kimberly (0-1) at No. 6 Bay Port (1-0)Thursday, 7 p.m. – Tickets via GoFanBay Port routed Middleton 56-15 last week as quarterback
Bray Babich, son of Green Bay Packers assistant coach Bobby Babich, accounted for three touchdowns. He completed all four of his passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns and added 60 yards and another score on two carries.
Ryder Timmerman rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on eight carries, while
Jackson Smith added 40 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries. Kimberly opened the season with a 27-12 loss to Hamilton. Quarterback
Rylan Welch threw for 176 yards and a touchdown, while
Maddux Hermus led the Papermakers' rushing attack with 60 yards.
Pewaukee (1-0) at Baldwin-Woodville (1-0) Friday, 6 p.m. Pewaukee cruised to a 42-7 win over Greendale in Week 1.
Benji Weis rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries to lead the Pirates, while
Colton Wall added 118 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries. Baldwin-Woodville is also coming off a blowout victory, defeating Tomah 48-19. Quarterback
Joe Jensen completed 15 of 19 passes for 171 yards and four touchdowns and added 70 rushing yards and another score on 10 carries.
No. 2 Arrowhead (1-0) at No. 9 Neenah (0-1)Friday, 7 p.m. Arrowhead opened its season with a 35-7 win over Marquette. Drake commit
Nolan Hanson completed 16 of 21 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns, while running backs
Jebari Craig and
Devin Nettles led the Warhawks' ground game. Craig rushed for 156 yards on 18 carries, and Nettles added 126 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Neenah lost 56-53 in overtime to Notre Dame last week despite dual-threat quarterback
Ashton VanBeek accounting for seven touchdowns. He rushed for 260 yards and five touchdowns on 28 carries and completed 11 of 22 passes for 166 yards and two more scores.
No. 15 Racine Case (1-0) at No. 5 Hamilton (1-0)
Hamilton opened the season with a 27-12 win over Kimberly. Dual-threat quarterback
Cole Erdmann completed 14 of 21 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries. Running back
Esten Haas also contributed 96 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. Racine Case posted a 20-10 upset win over Franklin in its season opener. The Eagles had been 0-26 against Franklin, with the series dating to when both teams were members of the Southeast Conference before Franklin moved to the Classic Eight Conference. Quarterback
Jayson Jefferson completed 10 of 20 passes for 155 yards, including a touchdown pass to
Tolan Johnson. Johnson finished with six catches for 118 yards.
Morell Jackson led the Eagles' rushing attack with 119 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.
No. 19 Kaukauna (1-0) at No. 8 Notre Dame Academy (1-0)Friday, 7 p.m. – Tickets via GoFanNotre Dame defeated Neenah 56-53 in a Week 1 overtime thriller. Wisconsin commit
Kingston Allen rushed for 458 yards and seven touchdowns on 38 carries, while Iowa State commit
Joey Massey scored the game-winning touchdown and recorded nine tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack. Kaukauna cruised to a 41-7 win over West Allis Hale last week as running back
Muhammad Jobe rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns.
No. 16 Franklin (0-1) at No. 12 Waunakee (0-1) Friday, 7 p.m. Both teams opened the season with a loss. Waunakee lost 24-7 to Muskego, while Franklin fell 20-10 to Racine Case. Neither team produced many offensive standouts, but both had several notable defensive performances. Waunakee's
Kyan Newman recorded 11 tackles,
Sawyer Ellis added 9 tackles, including four solo, and Franklin's
Aj Chromy finished with five tackles for loss and two sacks.
No. 22 Verona (1-0) at No. 14 Oconomowoc (1-0) Friday, 7 p.m. – Watch live NFHS Network The teams combined to outscore their opponents 86-0 in Week 1. Oconomowoc shut out Milton 41-0, and Verona blanked Oak Creek 45-0. Oconomowoc quarterback
Austin Munzel threw for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Two of the scores went to
Cole Moomey (4 catches, 58 yards) and the other was a 76-yarder to
Damian Bartolotta. In Verona's victory, quarterback
Emmitt Vukobrat threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 68 yards and another score.
Dejon Knutson caught three passes for 165 yards and three scores for the Wildcats.
Jax Wepking paced the run game with 14 carries for 114 yards and a touchdown.
Port Washington (1-0) at No. 17 Mount Horeb/Barneveld (1-0) Friday, 7 p.m. Mount Horeb/Barneveld is coming off a 14-10 win over Grafton, last year's Division 3 state champion. The Vikings were led by two-way standout
Eli Maier, who rushed for 151 yards on 22 carries and recorded eight tackles, including six solo stops and two tackles for loss, one of them a sack. Port Washington opened the season with a 39-20 win over Sheboygan North, behind strong performances from quarterback
Jack Bunyan and wide receiver
Aedyn Brownmiller. Bunyan passed for 494 yards and five touchdowns, while Brownmiller caught seven passes for 264 yards and two scores.
Stratford (1-0) at Edgar (1-0)Friday, 7 p.m.
The
small-school powers meet in their annual matchup, with both coming off
shutout wins. Stratford defeated Mosinee 31-0 as quarterback
Kolton Haupt passed for 91 yards and a touchdown and added two rushing scores.
In Edgar's 21-0 win over Cadott, running back
Landon Lukasko rushed for
92 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.
