Tutu Atwell Jr. led 19th-ranked
Northwestern (Miami) to a 21-16 win over No. 25
Armwood (Seffner) in the Florida Class 6A state championship game Friday at Camping World Studio in Orlando.
Oregon commit
Warren Thompson struck first for the Hawks with a five-yard touchdown reception. Armwood owned a 9-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and were in control early.
Then Atwell took over for Northwestern.
The dynamo 3-star quarterback performed an electrifying 53-yard TD run and tossed a precise 53-yard TD to spark 21 unanswered points. He notched 259 total yards and two TDs to help the Bulls capture their first state title since 2007.
Atwell also was responsible for 86 percent of the Bulls offensive production in the game. The Bulls defense limited Armwood to less than 200 yards of total offense.
Dual-threat QB
Devin Black posted 112 all-purpose yards and two TDs in the loss.
This was Northwestern's eighth title-game appearance but first since 2008.
