Jeremy Hensley - Three Sports And District Honors

By this time in the school year many seniors have their college, major, and dorm room all picked out. Ask most baseball players what their plan is after graduation and you will most likely get a big shrug of their shoulders. Jeremy Hensley is no exception to this generalization. College brings on many exciting times and many decisions.

Jeremy plays three sports at Nowata (Nowata, Okla.) (Football, Basketball and Baseball), but has devoted the majority of his time to baseball. Although he received district honors in both 3A Football and 3A Basketball, he is looking to play baseball on the college level. Coaches look to Jeremy for athletic ability and leadership. They know they can always count on him to be consistent. Hensley is a 6'1", 180 pound shortstop with five doubles and two homeruns this season. His other highlights include defeating Oklahoma Union in a nine inning game as well as his astounding double play against Adair when he paired up with catcher Kolby Thomas to oust the Warriors. "I just love baseball, I couldn't imagine it not being a part of my life", stated Hensley. Hensley is taking his season day by day in hopes of determining his future.

Although Hensley has not decided on a particular college, he has shown interest in a few. Pittsburg State University, Rogers State University and several junior colleges have been paying some interest. Hensley is still unsure where exactly he will end up. He is leaning towards PSU and RSU because of the "proximity to home and their athletic programs are well developed". Jeremy is also undecided on his course of study, but has been thinking he may choose a path with a business degree.

One thing he is decided on is his position in baseball, short stop. Hensley has been the starting SS for three years at Nowata High School and would like to continue playing it on the college level. He hopes to start early in his career to get a lot of experience. "Playing baseball in college has always been a goal of mine and to see it begin to come true is just awesome. I owe a lot of credit to my coaches; they have really prepared me for the next level", stated Hensley. The Nowata Ironmen are looking forward to watching Hensley succeed on and off the baseball field once he graduates.
