The Torrey Pines Falcons, ranked No. 4 in the San Diego-Union Tribune poll, defeated the No. 7 Mira Mesa Marauders, 34-21, in a non-league game at Torrey Pines Friday.

"In this offense, Pete Johnson is the go-to-guy," Torrey Pines coach Ed Burke said.ÿ

Johnson scored the final three Falcon touchdowns.

His first touchdown tied the game 21-21 with 1:46 to go in the third quarter, when he scored from four yards out.

Torrey Pines grabbed a 27-21 lead when Johnson scored from one yard out with 11:54 to go in the fourth quarter.

Johnson finished the game with a 10-yard run to account for the final score.
ÿ
"We showed tonight that we are the powerhouse of North County," said Johnson, who gained 109 yards on 15 carries.

Mira Mesa was impressive on offense in the first half.

The first time the Marauders touched the ball, senior quarterback Kevin O'Mary found senior tight end Josh Ollison going across the middle to the left side. Ollison promptly took it down the sideline for 82 yards with 9:21 to go in the first quarter.

O'Mary completed 14-of-23 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns.

Ollison finished with seven catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns.

Junior running back Armani Taylor responded with 83 of his 100 yards rushing in the second half, finishing with 16 carries as the No. 1 Oceanside Pirates defeated the No. 3 Escondido Cougars, 42-24, in Oceanside.ÿ Escondido running back Tyler Ennis rushed for 102 yards on 22 carries, including touchdowns of 20 and 3 yards. Jean-Paul Walker contributed 5 « sacks for the Pirates.

Senior quarterback Chris Forcier ran for 160 yards on just eight carries and threw for another 130 on 10-of-19 passing as the No. 2 St. Augustine Saints defeated the visiting San Pasqual Golden Eagles, 27-13.

Senior quarterback Ryan Lindley completed 26 passes for 417 yards and three touchdowns as the host El Capitan Vaqueros defeated the No. 6 Poway Titans, 46-28. Ben Noy finished with nine catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Ben Wilkins recorded three touchdowns and 100 yards rushing for El Capitan.

Senior Rusty Leedy followed his blockers for 74 yards on 14 carries, and fellow senior Brett Marquis carried 16 times for 67 yards as the host La Costa Canyon Mavericks defeated the No. 9 Vista Panthers, 22-7. Stanley Paul finished with four carries for 65 yards for La Costa Canyon.

Junior running back Raleigh Sevier rushed for 111 yards and two scores as the West Hills Wolf Pack defeated the Castle Park Trojans, 41-13, in Chula Vista.

Freshman Dillon Baxter caught four passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns as the host Mission Bay Buccaneers downed the Santa Fe Christian Eagles, 28-21. Santa Fe Christian senior running back Corbin Cutshaw finished with 121 yards on 20 carries. Mission Bay senior running back Kenneth Mayfield countered by rushing for 109 yards on 18 attempts.

Quarterback Chris Misensol clicked on 8-of-14 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns as the Granite Hills Eagles smothered the visiting San Diego Cavers, 38-0. Granite Hills junior Landon Turley recorded 6 « sacks, while senior teammate Josh Stewart was in on 3 « sacks and recovered two fumbles, including one in the end zone for a touchdown.

Junior quarterback Corey Trisby completed 17-of-29 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns as the Hoover Cardinals defeated the host Montgomery Aztecs, 28-23. Senior wide receiver Todd Doxey caught eight passes for 113 yards and three touchdowns for Hoover.ÿ Montgomery senior quarterback Chris Pizarro completed 7-of-20 for 136 yards and a touchdown. Junior running back Juan Moriel gained 145 yards on 18 carries with three touchdowns, two on the ground, for the Aztecs.

Senior quarterback Craig Rasmussen finished 11-for-18 passing for 175 yards and four touchdowns as the Hilltop Lancers defeated the visiting Sweetwater Red Devils, 49-30. Senior running back Jose Duran had 22 carries for 155 yards and three touchdowns for Hilltop.

Running back Khalid Waters scored on a two-yard run as the Grossmont Foothillers defeated the host Steele Canyon Cougars, 14-10. Waters finished with 52 yards on 14 carries for Grossmont.
