LEAKE ACADEMY SOFTBALL WIN STREAK REACHES 70
Leake Academy (Madden, Miss.) won this
fall's Class AA state title with a perfect 36-0 record and has won its
last 70 games. The national record is 112 consecutive victories. The
Rebels should add to that streak next year with seven returning
starters, including junior
Hannah Moore. She was 25-0 on the mound with a
0.16 ERA and 231 strikeouts in 130 innings. In addition, she batted
.660 with 13 doubles, five triples, 60 runs and 51 stolen bases.

also was the record of standout pitcher

MARIO LUCIA CHOOSES NOTRE DAME OVER DAD'S TEAMStandout forward Mario Lucia has made a commitment to the University of Notre Dame, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Lucia, a senior at
Wayzata (Plymouth, Minn.), plays for the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League. The 6-3, 195-pounder is the son of Don Lucia, head hockey coach at the University of Minnesota and a former Notre Dame player. He was a second-round NHL selection by the Minnesota Wild during the last draft. The Notre Dame hockey program boasts a new rink and a future national television contract.
V.J. BEACHEM PICKS NOTRE DAME BASKETBALLV.J. Beachem, a 6-7, 180-pound junior from
New Haven (Ind.), committed to the University of Notre Dame basketball program on Sunday, according to the South Bend Tribune. He averaged 19 points, six rebounds and three assists last year at Harding (Fort Wayne, Ind.), which closed its doors in the spring.

He is ranked No. 2 in the nation at 120 pounds by Amateur Wrestling News. Last year he was unbeaten (35-0) at 112 pounds, winning the Division I state and Ironman Tournament titles.

Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) senior Wyndham Clark shot a pair of sensational 8-under-par 64s to win his second consecutive Class 4A state golf title by eight strokes. Incredibly, the Oklahoma State University recruit could have had an even lower score, because six potential birdie putts skimmed the cup.
