On Friday evening, February 23rd the Blue Valley Tigers football team was honored by the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard.
The event went down at the halftime of the Boys varsity basketball game. Kicking off the ceremony was MaxPreps representative Randy Walling. With the team and coaches standing in front of an extremely enthusiastic crowd, it was announced that Blue Valley was one of the top ranked teams in the nation, placing 38th in America. Sergeant Terry Jones of the Kansas Army National Guard addressed the crowd and took the honors in presenting Head Coach Steve Rampy with the MaxPreps Tour of Champions national rankings trophy.
Blue Valley High School had an outstanding season as they finished with a perfect 13-0 record and the Kansas 5a State Championships. The Tigers have been a mainstay as championship contenders in Kansas high school football for the past ten years, but this year was truly one of their best seasons in school history. On the way to an undefeated season, Blue Valley showed they were no match for the other contenders, as their closest margin of vicotry was an outstanding 16 points. The Tigers nearly blanked Great Bend in the championship game winning 34-3.
Congratulations to Blue Valley on a remarkable season and we look forward to the possibility of honoring the team again in '08. Best of luck to the Tigers this fall!
