Marlon Brown and Justin Williams put on a show in Murfreesboro on Tuesday night in the Division II-A state title game between Davidson Academy and Harding Academy.
Brown, Harding Academy’s superstar wide receiver, caught four passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 139 yards on only eight carries with two more touchdowns. But it wasn’t enough as Davidson Academy won 36-34.
Williams rushed for 179 yards and one touchdown and wide receiver Cody Sandlin caught three touchdown passes as Davidson won its third state title in four years.
Memphis University School 38, Brentwood Academy 18
Memphis University School quarterback Barry Brunetti, a Mr. Football Finalist, passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Owls (12-1) pounded Brentwood Academy 38-18 for their fourth state title.
The Eagles (8-5) fumbled six times in the game and MUS took advantage, building a 31-0 lead on Bentwood Academy.

Marlon Brown, WR, Harding Academy – Had a great state title game scoring four times with 338 total yards (139 rushing, 2 TD on just eight carries, 199 receiving on just four catches, 2 TD) in 36-34 loss to Davidson Academy.
Phillip Branch, QB, Harding Academy – Was 14-of-18 passing for 280 yards and two touchdowns in 36-34 loss to Davidson Academy.
Justin Williams, RB, Davidson Academy – Rushed for 179 yards and one touchdown on 37 carries in a 36-34 win over Harding Academy.
Benjamin Cunningham, RB, Goodpasture – Rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, also added a 94 yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a 35-21 win over Christ Presbyterian Academy.
Brandon Hayes, RB, White Station – Rushed for 253 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-26 win over Germantown.
Robert Redmond, QB, Mitchell – Passed for 488 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-35 win over Dyersburg.
Keiwone Malone, WR, Mitchell – Caught 13 passes for a state record 358 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-35 win over Dyersburg.
Class 1A Superlatives
Team of the Week – Trousdale County. The Yellow Jackets showed how good they are by defeating defending champ South Pittsburg and wrecking the Pirates chance at a repeat.

Class 2A Superlatives
Team of the Week – Marion County. The Warriors have now won 11 straight games as they forced six Boyd Buchanan turnovers in a 7-6 win.
Player of the Week – Benjamin Cunningham, RB, Goodpasture. Cunningham rushed for 230 yards on 14 carries in 35-21 win over Germantown.

Class 3A Superlatives
Team of the Week – Mitchell. The Tigers used a great passing game from quarterback Robert Redmond to defeat Dyersburg 41-35.
Players of the Week – Robert Redmond, QB and Keiwone Malone, WR, Mitchell- Redmond (488 yards, 4 TDs) and Malone (13 catches, 358 yards, 3TDs) were unstoppable in win over Dyersburg.
Friday’s Picks – Knoxville Catholic over White House, David Lipscomb over Mitchell
Class 4A Superlatives
Team of the Week – Greeneville. The Green Devils came up big on the road defeating previously unbeaten Sullivan South.
Player Of The Week – Marsalis Teague, QB, Henry County. Teague was a handfull for the Melrose defense as the Patriots won 28-26.

Class 5A Superlatives
Team of the Week – Oakland. The Patriots behind the running of Precious Valentine defeated two-time defending state champion Smyrna for the second time this season.
Player of the Week – Brandon Hayes, RB, White Station. Hayes put the Spartans on his back as White Station defeated Grmantown.
