Kids can be pretty cruel and Lori Harder got that message at a very young age.
She learned, in of all places, on a diving board when she was 11-years-young. Kids, friends even, chanted a derogatory remark for all her innocent world to hear and comprehend. As quickly as possible, she splashed into a stream of consciousness that forever change her.
Harder felt shame. Embarrassment. Anger. She contemplated under water all of her life's possibilities, including "Maybe I just won't come up at all," she said.
Harder made a pact that day to go a different direction totally — even at that ripe age — and eventually took a swan dive into the fitness world. Her life would change forever.
Now a fitness cover model and three-time fitness world champion, Harder is an expert in transformation, self love and mindfulness. Even though she didn't play sports in high school — she was raised in a strict religious home in the remote region of Michigan — Harder offers powerful advice and inspiration to young athletes in this 22nd episode of Play Like a Girl.
