Spegal now needs five touchdowns to break the national record of touchdowns in a season at 72, which
Kazmeir Allen of
Tulare Union (Tulare, Calif.) set last year. In addition to the TD mark, Spegal also needs 44 points to break Law's national record of 453 points in a season.
Spegal also has 410 points, which ranks No. 10 in national history and No. 3 in Indiana behind Law, who had 453, and Joshua Smith of Attica, who had 449 points in 2000.
He also gained 189 yards rushing Saturday to put him at 3,130 yards on the season. That total ranks No. 7 in state history. Markell Jones of Columbus East set the record in 2014 with 3,536 yards.
