Center Casey Middelstadt of Eden Prairie (Minn.) goes to the Buffalo Sabres in the first round (No. 8 overall). New Sabres coach Phil Housley was selected in the first round of the 1982 draft (6th overall) out of South St. Paul (Minn.).

Ryan Verrier of Salisbury began his career at Austin Prep (Mass.). The defenseman will play for the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL) in 2017-18 before going to the University of New Hampshire.
